Alexis Anais Avedisian is a writer and communications professional. She is the current Communications Manager of NYC Media Lab, a public-private partnership launched by the New York City Economic Development Corporation, Columbia University and New York University. NYC Media Lab merges events and prototyping projects to foster collaboration across a range of technology disciplines. In 2016, she joined the organizing committee for Theorizing the Web, an annual conference that brings together scholars, journalists, artists, activists, and technology practitioners to think conceptually and critically about the interrelationships between the Web and society.

Her writing explores the social implications of online networks—including surveillance capitalism and the attention economy—as a means to critique new artistic and political practices. She holds a BFA from Tufts University and an MA in Arts Administration from NYU Steinhardt.
